Literature Text

If I die young,
I'll smile every breathing moment this life gives me,
I'll tell the world who I am without inhibition,
I'll scream it out as loud as my lungs can muster.
I'll share my heart with any and all I will see.
I'll help those in need and I'll open my ears and listen.

If I die young,
I'll find my true love and love them with every last breath,
with every last beat of my racing heart.
I'll be with that one person for as long as I've got.
I'll dig deep with my family, I'll smile, I'll laugh, I'll cry.
I'll be with them and I always will.
I'll dance, I'll sing and I'll play harder than I ever have.
I'll see them everyday and never get tired of them.
I'll find it in myself to say what I need to say before it's too late.
I'll cherish hour long talks about whatever the hell comes to mind.

If I die young,
I'll leave myself behind in my writing and in the people I know.
In the people I've embraced and the ones who've embraced me.
The'll remember my warm, caring smile. How I listen to them.
How I listen to their stories of joy and their stories of woe alike.
They'll remember me because I was always there with kind,
Open and compassionate arms.
The'll remember me when I took every opportunity to help them.
Because my spirit is pure and protecting.
Because I will leave my heart out for others and always be me.

If I die young,
I'll finally meet all those celebrities I've been obsessing over.
I'll go gaga over them and completely freak out.
I'll eat those fine foods from fine restaurants.
I'll twirl and twist delicious pasta from France and Italy onto my fork.
I'll savor the sweet taste of exotic fruits from exotic places.
I'll devour some homemade, greasy, mouth-watering fried chicken.

If I die young,
I'll travel to places I've never been. All the ones I marked on a map.
I'll go to all the places I read about in books and dreamt about.
I'll venture across the U.S. and stand with the vast, unimaginable
Grand Canyon in front of me.
I'll sail the great seas and find myself stepping in the warm sands
Of Greece. I'll stand next to it's mighty, ancient pillars of the past.
I'll swim in the warm, beautiful beach waters of Hawaii.
I'll walk the green fields of Scotland and have their accents roar in my ears.

If I die young,
I'll lower the strenuous and outlandish standards I have on myself.
I'll let guilt I ever possessed go.
I'll show the world that hope for peace is still out there.
I'll show them that we can live without bloodshed, without war.
That we can live without the pain that every nation grieves for.
I'll show the world that it doesn't need destructive drugs or alcohol.
That It doesn't need addictive cigarettes.
I'll show the world that we don't need to be obsessed with food.
That we don't need to be obsessed with our bodies or our image.
I'll show them we don't need to be skinny or have muscles.
I'll show the world how to be healthy and happy.
I'll show the world how to be good and how to be just.
I'll show right and wrong, good and bad, happy and sad.
I'll show the world how to be free.

If I die young,
I'll venture to those far off, only dreamt of places.
I'll eat those amazing, succulent foods.
I'll meet all those people I idolize.
I'll experience everything I ever imagined.
I'll fall deeply in love.
I'll spend every moment I can with my family.
I'll be me and I'll show the world how to love.
A bucket list poem. I feel everyone should do anything their heart desires. It's worth living a good life. :)
